Do you have a simple will?

If you have assets less than $338,333, and are in need of an executed simple will, Habitat can assist.

In partnership with Leave a Legacy of Summit, Portage & Medina, Habitat is offering free wills for individuals on May 18th from 9am -4pm.

Local attorneys will be on site throughout the day to assist in the creation of a simple will at no cost.

Spaces are limited and reservations must be made in advance.

 Ravenna, Ohio- Habitat for Humanity of Portage County is teaming up with the Edinburg United Church to host, “A Day of Caring,” in which Habitat for Humanity of Portage County will discuss volunteering and homeownership and accept donations from the community of reusable appliances, furniture and building materials for resale in the ReStore in Kent.

This event will take place on Sunday May 6 from 10am – 2pm at the Edinburg United Church, 4081 Rock Spring Road, Ravenna OH.  Habitat staff and volunteers will be on hand to assist unloading vehicles, provide donation receipts and to discuss the Habitat program and volunteer opportunities.

Acceptable items for donations include:  furniture, appliances, cabinets, countertops, doors, flooring, hardware, lighting, lumber, plumbing, roofing, windows, and other building tools.

Brian Reitz, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Portage County, commented, “We rely on the generosity of volunteers, donated materials and financial donations to support our vision to eliminate substandard housing in Portage County.  We invite anyone interested in Habitat homeownership and as well as the entire community to join us in our efforts and learn more about Habitat’s vision for the county.”

Donations to the ReStore are fully tax deductible and pick-up services for large items can be scheduled before or after the event.  The ReStore is open Tuesday – Saturday 10am -5pm and is located at 1510 S. Water St, Kent OH 44240.  For more information call the ReStore: (330) 677-8881.

Habitat for Humanity of Portage County is currently looking for interested individuals and families who would like to fulfill their dream of owning their own home.  Openings for homeownership are available for current building projects.  An informational session about Habitat homeownership will be held on April 15th at the Habitat Office Conference Room located at 6630 Cleveland Road in Ravenna Township. The session will begin promptly at 2:00 PM.

Families are chosen without respect to age, gender, sexual preference, disability, race, religion or national origin.

Persons interested in attending the April orientation are encouraged to call the Habitat Office at 330-296-2880 or email at office@habitatofportage.org to advise the staff that they are coming to the orientation session.

A Volunteer information meeting will be held on Saturday April 14^th at 10am at the Habitat office at 6630 Cleveland Road, Ravenna OH  44266.  RSVP’s for the orientation must be made by noon on Friday April 13^th.

Habitat for Humanity of Portage County is recruiting individuals who are willing to volunteer their time and energy to serve on active committees helping with the operations and various functions of the organizations.  Individuals interested in selecting and working with Habitat families, oversight of construction days, marketing, fundraising and more are needed to assist the non-profit fulfill its goals of creating a world where everyone has a decent place to live in Portage County.
