71% of residents are homeowners enabling them to better raise families and have a stable life, but 18,700 people are still living under the poverty line. No matter how hard they work, most will not ever be able to achieve home ownership, without the opportunity chance offered by Habitat for Humanity of Portage County and its supporters.

Quality, affordable housing for owner occupants stabilizes and invigorates neighborhoods, and contributes tremendously to the health and vigor of the economy. Neighborhoods with higher ownership rates are statistically safer, more stable, have higher property values, and less crime.
