HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF PORTAGE COUNTY
AND THE CHURCH IN AURORA HOSTING COLLECTION DAY JUNE 23!
Ravenna, Ohio-June 18, 2012- Habitat for Humanity of Portage County and the Church in Aurora are teaming up to host, “Habitat Donation Station,” in which Habitat for Humanity of Portage County will accept donations from the community of reusable appliances, furniture and building materials for resale in the ReStore in Kent.
This event will take place on Saturday June 23th from 10am – 2pm at the Church in Aurora, 146 South Chillicothe Road. Habitat staff and volunteers will be on hand to assist unloading vehicles, provide donation receipts and to discuss the Habitat program and volunteer opportunities.
Acceptable donations include: furniture, appliances, cabinets, countertops, doors, flooring, hardware, lighting, lumber, plumbing, roofing, tools, windows, exercise equipment and working TV’s & stereos.
Donations to the ReStore are fully tax deductible and pick-up services for large items can be scheduled before or after the event by calling 330-677-8881. Donations will be taken to the Habitat ReStore in Kent, with profits from the sales of items directly benefitting Habitat for Humanity construction projects in Portage County.
Brian Reitz, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Portage County, commented, “We were thrilled with the response from the Aurora community at last year’s event and are excited for the opportunity to partner with the residents of Aurora and the Church in Aurora to find a second life for many useful pieces of the home and reduce the amount of waste going into the landfills.”
